Ah well the jist of the story is a Substance misuse worker was talking to someone who they believe to be out of it when they suddenly felt the effects of it too. Only been a couple of days in the job according to 1 post.

At some point you will feel the effects of spice. It's absolutely rife in jails.

Had a few attacks of varying severity.
Most just headaches but have passed out once.
Dirty stuff. Jails will never be drug free, it’s how the cons get their money and kicks. Some get on it just to get through their sentences “out of it”.

drugs can be got rid of but the whole system needs changing - UK prisons need to follow the Norwegian method instead of trying to copy the US jails. The north Europeans focus on actual rehabilitation and have a tiny % of re-offending. They don't have the problems with drugs that we have. Addiction needs to be treated as a medical problem, not a criminal one.

Yea cell snatch hoods. Cost around £400 each to recharge after use. Maybe when the jail gets the bill they will do something about it.

We are behind the curve in the U.S.. We are just beginning to see it in our prison. Now a strong or maybe bad batch is going around causing normally calm inmates to really act bizarre. A co worker thought he heard an electronic fire alarm, went onto the hall, and there is an inmate screeching, lying on his back and pretending to ride a bicycle! As he took this in, another inmate walked zombie like towards him with closed fists. He gave he inmate a long shot of pepper spray that put him down. We have put at least one a day in seg for this, this week alone. We are a fairly small prison. I know nothing about exposure to this stuff and it hasn’t been addressed yet. Hope to learn from all I can on my own. Stay safe guys!

Addiction needs to be treated as a medical problem, not a criminal one. This is not to say how better it is or anything like that just saying what is like in there so... In Poland they are working on simple system called "Do this or else..." The way it works is: If you want to get help, study, educate, work and etc no problem they will do everything they can in order to help you. But try to break any of the rules and based on why you did you gonna feel the full force of the system. If you violent they will move you to something called the "N WING". I believe N stands for "Niebezpieczny" which means "Dangerous". Then your freedom becomes so small that it becomes minimal. In most prisons they will strip searched you to the fully naked every time you leave the cell or coming back to it. Also most of the staff are trained in self defence so they are capable of getting control of the man. Thats why there are not much of a drugs in there (there still some but not much as it is not worth the risk). Thats just based on what i have watched the dpcumentary about the polish prisons.
