drugs can be got rid of but the whole system needs changing - UK prisons need to follow the Norwegian method instead of trying to copy the US jails. The north Europeans focus on actual rehabilitation and have a tiny % of re-offending. They don't have the problems with drugs that we have. Addiction needs to be treated as a medical problem, not a criminal one. There is a vast difference between the crime and criminals in Norway compared to the UK, not even comparable. And you tell me that a drug addict burgling houses and assaulting people for money shouldn't be dealt with like a criminal? Absolutely he should, but then receive the help he needs to become a better citizen and drug free once he is in the system. The only thing is, you can only really help people that are open to your help, if they don't want it, the won't be helped, simple as that.
