Not paying attention in this job could cost someone their life.

To be fair it's just people not paying attention and just walking off. WHAT? ? Where the fuck are you working? ? What category of prisoner does it hold? ? Are you short staffed? ? Clearly your establishment is NOT operating a safe, decent and secure regime. Err - discipline? When our full quota of staff isn’t in we DO NOT UNLOCK more than as per our LSS/prison rules or we bang up for 23hrs (lock down state). Have you looked at your LSS? I recommend you do then raise it that staff are walking off - don’t worry about grassing ‘em up. You are all STUPID unlocking that many: you ain’t hard - you’re putting yourself and others in danger. Sorry but sounds like horse shit. I simply can’t get my head round it. They leave gates open as well? Might as well... No offence but my days; I’m glad it’s not MY establishment!!!!!

I’ve missed you Sharknado 👍 I love the fact that you pull no punches and tell it how it is. Wish everyone was as straight talking as you.

I raised it in our staff meeting for the 3rd time and the S.O wasn't happy. He said he doesn't want any officers in the bubble during association they are to be on the wing. It's happened when the cons where already on association. We would have four of us then next news only 1 or 2 because some have sloped off into the bubble. I'm not having it no more, I made my feelings clear earlier this week.

Ahh I been working too hard mate! I’ve got proper crap net access at the mo and thank you 😆 it’s always nice to feel appreciated 🤗
I don’t hold back; I ain’t softly softly nicey nicey that’s for sure. I take NO messing from anyone.
Only an SO? Where was O1? Confuses me that some jails use CMs others SOs to manage/staff the landings. Soz but these slippery staff need reprimanding. Are they new or experienced? I’ll tell you older ones ain’t happy about the new staff purely because the PP has dried up - it’s not personal. So yeah they will fuck off to leave you to do the work as they think it’s their right to pretty much. Others are scared and feel intimidated if they’re new - that’s dangerous.
Do you have a full staff quota? Even for 50 out on association we would have more than 4 officers on the wing. When it’s full unlock - yeah there’s a lot of white n blacks about!!!
An offender can smell fear and newness - they know. When I was a new face at my establishment they knew I wasn’t new. New to there but not to the estate. I didn’t smell “fresh” I smelled “used and dirty”.

During freeflow, mealtimes, canteen and association unlock (basically any time where core activities are taking place) you should have at least 3 members of staff - ratio of 30to1 as others have said - for a decent to large population landing. You were right to bring it up with your SO and team and your colleagues should know better than to bugger off during that time. If it becomes a regular problem you take it to your CM. Failing that, put it in writing to your residential governor. Then if they don't act and God forbid you or a colleague gets hurt, that's entirely on the prison service as it's on record that you've raised the issue multiple times.
